For Make Believers Friday – The Young. The Wise. The Undiscovered.

“Ingenuity, plus courage, plus work, equals miracles.” ~ Bob Richards

Sometimes it pays to loaf around on the Internet.

Weeks, maybe even months ago, I encountered a link someone posted on Facebook. The title, Ideas Worth Spreading, honestly, intrigued me.

I clicked on the link – something I never do – and it took me to the TED website. A nonprofit founded in 1984, its’ sole purpose is bringing people together from the three worlds of technology, entertainment, design. And front and center on the page was this video: John Bohannon: Dance vs. Powerpoint, a modest proposal.

Using dancers instead of Powerpoint, science writer John Bohannonaided by dancers from Black Label Movement – performed his spellbinding choreographed talk before an extremely entertained audience.

You gotta see it, Fam. It’s absolutely one of the most intriguing presentations I’ve ever seen. And ever since I saw it, I’ve been holding on to it, waiting for the chance to share it with you.

Why am I pulling it out now? Well, funny you should ask….

Farting around on the Internet yesterday, I stumbled upon some very exciting news for artistpreneurs. On January 31st, TED announced a global talent search for TED 2013 speakers.

Let me backtrack….

Every year, TED holds an annual conference at its home base, the Long Beach Performing Arts Center.  A collage of potent information, the four-day stage program weaves together a mix of presentations, covering creativity, invention, business, science and the most pressing global issues. And this year, organizers will be casting at least half of the line-up from their global public auditions in 14 cities on six continents.

For my Statesiders, applications open on March 30th and close on April 19th. Thirty of the best applicants will then be invited to audition in person in the Big Apple on June 7th.

This is huge, Fam! And when I say huge, I mean gargantuan. (Who knew that was how you spelled that word? LOL…)

So, artistpreneurs, if you’re an inventor, teacher, prodigy, artist, performer, sage, enthusiast, change-agent, storyteller or you just have that spark, get on the good foot, visit TED’s website, ready yourself to apply and capitalize on this phenomenal opportunity to speak to a global audience with the quickness!

I’m not playing, yaw. TED 2013’s slogan is The Young. The Wise. The Undiscovered.

Doesn’t that sound like you?
